Import and reading
- NovelReader supports EPUB and PDF files.
- Local import, reading, and same-device progress work without an account.
- If a file will not open, confirm that it is an EPUB or PDF and that the file still exists on your device.

Sync and subscriptions
- Premium Cross-device sync requires an account and active premium access.
- Use the app's subscription screen to restore purchases.
- NovelReader syncs metadata and reading state; it does not upload book files to cloud sync.
Extensions and servers
- iOS App Store builds include no preloaded extension repositories; users may add third-party HTTPS repositories manually after the extension safety notice and per-extension consent.
- Server connections, where available, may require credentials, hosted sign-in, or a valid server URL.
- Repository install and update features require explicit user action and can be reported or blocked from the app.
Notifications and release updates
- Premium Release tracking and release alerts depend on followed series and tracker data.
- Notifications are optional and can be disabled in the app.
- If notifications do not appear, check system notification permission and the in-app alert setting.
